Britain and in particular Somerset, Hereford and Wales are world renowned for their ciders. Ever since I got interested in cider I have been drinking, reading and critiquing about British ciders but I have never had the opportunity to see where it comes from. So I’m going to change that with Real Cider Reviews biggest project to date.

While we could debate about the origins of cider, it is hard to deny the history and influence the UK has had on the world of cider. Now I’ve got a chance to trace the traditions and terroir of the orchards during the British summer.

The first week July 2018 I am planning a cycling tour around the west country of England. My plan is simple. I’m packing up my bike, camera and laptop and flying to the UK. Starting in London before heading west. I’ve got 5 days to make my way through Somerset, Wales and Herefordshire finishing in Birmingham. I want to visit as many cider houses and orchards as I can.

Along the way, I’ll be writing and filming a series of stories and reviews about the ciders and the cidermakers I meet along the way. It’s 8 months away but there is a lot of planning to be done.

Real Cider Review readers, this is the part where I need your help. If you have a suggestion for a cider that I need to track down from this area let me know on Twitter, Instagram, YouTube or Facebook. To the Cider makers and pubs, if you are willing to open your doors to me please let me know.

There is a lot of planning to do over the next few months but I can’t wait to get on the bike and visit the places where some of my favourites come from.
