Well It’s that time of year. The 2019 Australian Cider Awards.
Cider Australia has announced the winners of its 2019 Australian Cider Awards at a gala dinner in Melbourne this evening. Barossa Cider Co – Squashed Apple Cider from South Australia won ‘Best in Show’, ‘Best New World Cider’ and ‘Best Australian Cider’ with a score of 97 in the New World Medium Sweet Cider class.
Entries open the 2019 Australian Cider Awards. The Competition will give producers the opportunity to benchmark their products against the best local and imported ciders available for sale in Australia. As the local cider industry ramps up its focus on quality and provenance. The winners will be announce at the awards dinner, held in Melbourne on the 8th of November.
It’s been a pretty tough year Australian Agriculture. Most of the state’s are suffering through the worst drought since records began. But tonight there the rain is falling the ciders are cold and there are smiles on faces. The industry is growing in quality and depth and the 2018 Australian Cider Awards celebrate that.

Last night saw the awards ceremony for the Australia’s best ciders at the 2015 Cider Australia Awards. Last year, somewhat controversially, the top gong went to the British cider maker Thatchers with their Somerset Gold. This year the top award stayed local.
