Put a mark on your calendars, the Royal Adelaide Beer & Cider Awards are on again. This year the awards are being presented on Friday 28th July. The Royal Adelaide Beer and Cider Awards (RABCA) will allow beer and cider entries from New Zealand in 2017 – the first time in the competition’s history.

Held annually as part of the Royal Adelaide Show, RABCA provides a platform for producers to benchmark their products and received personalised feedback from nationally-recognised judges.

Royal Show General Manager Michelle Hocking said last year the competition attracted a record number of entries from across Australia.

“RABCA has grown over the past seven years, and still remains the most affordable competition of its kind in Australia.” Ms Hocking said. “The decision to become a Trans-Tasman competition is our first step toward making it a more robust, International competition, and will provide even greater competition for Australian brewers.”

Coinciding with the Royal Adelaide Beer & Cider Awards, Adelaide will host the Australian Craft Brewers Conference (ACBC) for the first time from Tuesday, July 25 to Thursday, July 27. The RABCA Presentation will be held on the opening night of the Adelaide Beer and BBQ Festival on Friday, July 28.

“The combination of the Awards, the conference and the Beer & BBQ Festival provides a great opportunity for brewers from across Australia to be part of this cluster of beer and cider-related events,” Ms Hocking said.

This year’s Prize Schedule and RABCA collateral will feature the artistic talent of Steven Lehmann, who submitted his design in the inaugural RABCA poster design competition, run late last year.

“I am very honoured that my design was chosen,” Mr Lehmann stated, “The image is a pencil sketch of a woman holding a beer, titled Keep It Classy.”
