Tonight Australia’s best cider makers have descended on Melbourne for the 2017 Cider Australia Awards. With more Ciders coming into the market and the depth of knowledge in the industry growing yearly, the completion was fierce.
2015 has been another massive growth year for cider in Australia and around the world. I’ve tasted more ciders this year than ever before. More than that, the quality is improving. I put that down to the cider makers learning more every season and the cider drinkers becoming more adventurous and discerning. So here are my Best Ciders of 2015.
Recently I reviewed St Ronan’s Draught Cider. Now as part of my series on Methode Tradionelle Ciders it’s time to taste the Draughts big brother, The St Ronan’s Methode Traditionelle.
St Ronan’s are doing things a little different in the Yarra Valley. Their real cider is unfiltered, has no added sugar or water, couple this with white wine yeast makes this draught cider an interesting little number. But the fact that this cider is only half of a double act is the real story.
